Hi, I’m James Bryden.

It’s strange writing about yourself but obviously I need to so you can get a sense of the work we do and the results our clients get… and they do get them sooner than later.

So what qualifies me to make this claim of “Exceptional People, Exceptional Results!?

Look at the track record with our client raves and read the spiel below. I know, it’s a bit of a novel but you know what they say – no pain… no gain.

Growing Up in Coventry

Growing up in Coventry, a working class town famous for its car factories was not a happy time for me.whitley-abbey-school-team

I absolutely hated school, yet I loved learning. Reading encyclopedias was something I enjoyed. I could choose what I wanted to learn, not what the system said I should. Maybe I am still a bit of a rebel.

Apart from reading, all I really wanted to be was a top flight football player and I practiced very hard to do that, but the truth is, I was never really good enough to get to that sort of level.  Still, I had a fairly successful semi-professional career and did reasonably well, but as far as a career was concerned it wasn’t really on.

Royal Marines

After a short stint in a factory after leaving school I decided to become a trained killer 8-O , join the Royal Marines and earn my Green Beret. For a couple of reasons, it was one of the best things I ever did. I’ve never been so fit in my life! But on the downside, it also opened my eyes to the fact that I was somebody else’s hired gun and I could get killed doing dirty work they would not dream of doing themselves.

mary_120So I left there & came to Australia.  I always wanted to start my own business up & eventually did that, after getting married to my lovely wife Mary. I ran an electronics business for many years but all the way through my career I never felt confident I could rise above a certain level in terms of income and status.

This was very, very frustrating for me. Every time I tried to go to the next level financially or whatever, I’d always find myself procrastinating or producing some self limiting behavior that would stop me achieving what I thought I wanted to do.

New Life in Perth

I never really overcame that feeling, it was always sitting in the background, silently running my life. Then the family & I moved to Perth about 20 odd years ago, and I started up a similar business & the same thing happened, but by this time it was driving me absolutely nuts, I hated my occupation, I hated my business, I felt trapped. I knew it wasn’t something I really wanted to do, but I didn’t know what I wanted so the culmination of this endlessly repeating pattern was that I ended up going bankrupt around 1996/97.

We lost everything but thankfully the family stuck together, which I am really grateful for, but I was really in the pits and it affected me badly, my self esteem was so low it was as though it was wrapped tightly around my ankles preventing me from making any forward progress.

I was really in a bad way and a few weeks after we went bust I finally got help after a friend gave me a phone no. It took a couple weeks to pluck up the courage but eventually I made the call.

Lightbulb Moments

The insights I got from that literally changed my life, I wasn’t immediately successful, simply because changing my thinking patterns and behaviors took time.   But one of the effects that happened not too long after that was I was offered what I thought was the job of my dreams and it took about a nano second to accept.

head-coach-passes_300Becoming Head Coach of the Indonesian National Youth Soccer Team was an absolutely fantastic experience. Getting my head around the fact that more people in Indonesia knew me than there are people in Australia was not a problem. I did a good job, it lasted about 18 months or so then I came back to Australia and set about learning as much as I could about what is now my Coaching job, the real job of my dreams, something I absolutely love.

It’s been a long road, a lot of disappointments along the way, but I feel as though I have really achieved something worthwhile and I wouldn’t swap what I am doing now for absolutely anything.

And do you know, I wouldn’t be doing this dream job now without those disappointments, which I am eternally grateful for.
